There are also a number of stories that this hard-core fan found himself reading for the first time. No Van Halen aficionado should go through life without reading this book. It and David Lee Roth’s CRAZY FROM THE HEAT autobiography are all you need if you’re after the complete picture of the path that Van Halen trod into the limelight
Not Amazing Book
Dates are mixed and not linear which is confusing. Example the changes in name from genisis to mammoth to Van Halen. And Mike Anthony's recent contributions seems almost sad. A lot of hype from the author on the Van Halen forums whipped up a fury of positive "can't wait" vibe yet this book is a let down to that hype of being "different" then the typical stories. Strongest point is the backyard years but then not much substance from the whiskey years and on. Disappointed in this book as a die hard fan. Expected more.
